2012 Survival

div

Humanity is fast coming up to that highly anticipated date of Dec.21, 2012 and publishers are helping readers ramp up and count down to this mysterious — some even call it apocalyptic — event that Mayan societies were anticipating thousands of years ago.Read about 2012 survival here:

Since last November, three new books on 2012 and 2012 Survival have arrived in mainstream bookstores so far and a fourth is due this fall. Each arrived in the wake of the 2006 success of "2012: The Return of Quetzalcoatl", which has sold thousands of copies a month since its release in May and now counts more than 40,000 that are in print. These books also build on the popular interest in the Mayan culture, mostly fueled by Mel Gibson's December 2006 film release about the Mayan civilization, "Apocalpyto".

Everyone disagrees about what humankind should expect on Dec. 21, 2012, when the Maya's "Long Count" calendar marks the end of a 5,126-year era. A time when the celestial bodies shift in the night sky and move into a new predominent zodiac sign. As in this case we will simply be moving from "Gemini" to "Pieces".

The journalist Lawrence Joseph forecasts a widespread catastrophe in "Apocalypse 2012: A Scientific Investigation Into Civilization's End" and spiritual healer Andrew Smith predicts a restoration of the "true balance between Divine Feminine and Masculine" in his "The Revolution of 2012: Vol. 1, The Preparation". Daniel Pinchbeck anticipates a "change in the nature of consciousness," assisted by indigenous insights and psychedelic drug use!

Dec.21,2012 echoes the excitement and fear expressed on the eve of the new millennium, popularly the Y2K scare, though on a smaller scale, says Lynn Garrett, a senior religion editor at the Publishers Weekly. She states publishers seem to be courting readers who believe that humanity is creating its own ecological disasters and who desperately want to heed to this ancient indigenous wisdom.

"Part of the appeal of these earth religions is that notion that we need to reconnect with the Earth in order to save ourselves. The convergence I see here is the apocalyptic expectations, if you will, along with the fact that the environment is in the front of many people's minds these days," says Garrett.

Scholars are bristling in their attempts to link the ancient Mayan culture with trends in contemporary spirituality. The Mayan civilization, known for their advanced writing, mathematics and astronomy, flourished for centuries in Mesoamerica, between A.D. 300 and 900. Its Long Count calendar, which was discontinued under Spanish colonization, tracks around 5,000 years, then resets itself to year zero once more.

"For the ancient Maya, it was a huge celebration to make it to the end of a whole cycle," says Sandra Noble, executive director of the Foundation for the Advancement of Mesoamerican Studies in Crystal River, Fla. Rendering Dec. 21, 2012, as a doomsday or moment of cosmic shifting is "a complete fabrication and a chance for a lot of people to cash in, and that's all " she says.

The 2012 mystique stems from the stars. During the winter solstice in 2012, the sun will be directly aligned with the center of our Milky Way galaxy for the first time in about 26,000 years. This simply means that "whatever energy typically streams to Earth from the center of the Milky Way will probably be disrupted on Dec.21,2012 at approximately 11:11 p.m. Universal Time," says Joseph.

Most scholars doubt the ancient Maya extrapolated any great meaning from anticipating the alignment — if they were even aware of what the configuration would be. This was just their way of telling time by using celestial science.

Alomost all Astronomers generally agree that "it would be impossible the Maya themselves would have known that," says Susan Milbrath, a curator and Maya archaeoastronomer at the Florida Museum of Natural History. What's more, "we have no record or knowledge that they would think the world would come to an end at that point."she says,

Susan Gillespie, a University of Florida anthropologist, says the 2012 phenomenon comes "from media and from other people making use of the Maya past to fulfill agendas that are really their own."

Personally I believe this:(you may not agree as my background may differ from yours)

God willing, I will be alive when that day comes. The question I have gone over again and again to myself is "What can I do about it?", and that answer of course is...not a single thing.

That day will arrive and whatever it brings it brings. I may not be able to do anything about stopping that day from occuring short of stopping time itself but I can be prepared for the possibilities for a catastrophic event, just in case!

Are you ready for something like that? Are you prepared? Could you survive? That is my question to you. My family and I are ready for whatever life puts in front of us. We are prepared to deal with whatever happens and I am very confident that we will make it through because we are prepared.

DON'T WAIT UNTIL IT'S TOO LATE-PREPARE YOUR FAMILY TOO!
